Buildings by Bjarke Ingels

Bjarke Ingels’ talk was very visual and very funny at times. The Danish architect showed some of his company’s most prominent work, which inspired a lot of people in the audience.

Mr. Ingels designed a building shaped as an upside-down V. Funding in Sweden for the project was not sufficient, but a Chinese business man saw it and recognized the Chinese symbol for ‘people’ in it, which was a pleasant surprise for Mr. Ingels, as the design will now get another chance: in China.

Other prominent architectural works featured in Mr. Ingels talk were asymmetrical houses in Denmark, the Danish Expo in China and an island on the coast of the capital of Azerbaijan. Mr. Ingels’ company made a deal with the government of that country to build a city, with housing shaped like the mountains surrounding the city.
