We are announcing a new speaker every week on Tuesday’s. We are happy to announce Wubbo Ockels, Frans Timmermans and Jacob Gelt Dekker will speak at TEDxAmsterdam on 20 November.
Exploring life in our galaxy
Prof. dr. Wubbo J. Ockels is a Dutch physicist and astronaut. The professor of Aerospace Sustainable Engineering and Technology tries to stimulate a mentality change among Dutch citizens. Besides his academic career Ockels is busy creating a movement against climate change called ‘Ladies First’. Prof. dr. Wubbo J. Ockels will explain at the TEDxAmsterdam conference how ‘time’ is created by human beings. Information and time are at similar rates. Based on this premise Ockels will search for new ways to explore life in our galaxy.

The Minister of European Affairs
Frans Timmermans is Minister for European Affairs in the Netherlands. Timmermans aims to create a realistic perspective regarding our approach towards Europe. According to the minister “we loved Europe too much in the past, but today we love Europe too little.” The subject of Timmermans TEDx Talk will not be revealed yet, but be sure it will be inspiring.

Jacob Gelt Dekker is a modern day explorer with an entrepreneurial spin and above all a philanthropist. Gelt Dekker’s entrepreneurial successes include hotels, art companies, music businesses and one-hour photo shops. Jacob Gelt Dekker circumnavigated the world more than 50 times and spends a minimum of six months in each area in order to absorb the culture and “get to know the people.” Currently the serial entrepreneur devotes himself to creation of the resort Kura Hulanda in Curacao. About which subject Jacob Gelt Dekker will speak is still a secret – be excited.
