Three new speakers!

Before we’ll reveal which speakers will talk at TEDxAmsterdam, we want to tell you that we are very proud to announce Dutch journalist Joris Luyendijk will moderate the TEDxAmsterdam event.

Ruud Koornstra, CEO of Tendris, a company that initiates, operates and invests in sustainable businesses will speak at TEDxAmsterdam. Why? Dozens of sustainable enterprises came into existence because of Koornstra’s views, including Durion Energie (which became Oxxio), Greencard of Visa, Lemnis Lighting, Tendris Solutions, a technological innovation centre for energy and environmental technology.

Koornstra is not our only green-minded TEDxAmsterdam speaker: dr Gerhard Knies is a specialist at the area of energy. As a physicist Knies worked for DESY, CERN and the famous University of Berkeley (CA). Gerhard Knies was co-founder of TREC, a network of experts on sustainable energy. TREC gave rise to the initiative DESERTEC to provide Europe at whole with clean energy. In order to reach this goal the Northern part of the Sahara must utterly be covered with solar panels.

And last but not least, we are happy to announce that Mark Kamau (1980) will speak at TEDxAmsterdam. Kamau decided at a young age he does not want to spend his future life in the slum area of Nairobe. Luckily Kamau turns out to be an excellent soccer player, which leads to the participation of Kamau in the national soccer team at age 17. Despite his atletic succes, Kamau dreams of another career: becoming a journalist. In 2000 the former soccer player is selected to take part in the NairoBits educational program. Underpriviliged but talented and motivated kids from slums get the opportunity to develop their talents. And in the course of the years Mark Kamau became general manager of NairoBits.
