Emer Beamer, Co-creating a Better World

Emer Beamer is co-founder of Butterfly Works (with Ineke Aquarius and Hester Ezra), a design studio which works for social change. The studio is based in Amsterdam and works globally with a core team of 15 designers and organisers. Butterfly Works have developed numerous concepts which contribute to greater equality in the world, concepts which are currently used in 22 countries in 3 continents.

Examples of their work include founding father of Return to Sender, NairoBits Digital Design schools, !SYOU sneakers and a recently launched game called ‘Get H20′.

‘I think what makes our work at Butterfly Works powerful is the ability to work with creative people all over the world, sometimes in very harsh circumstances, to amplify the creative practice so that the individual benefits, the world enjoys their creation and the balance of power is tipped in their favor.’
