Ideas worth sending by post

Dream, dare, do, is the winner of our card design challenge. Congratulations to Shortlife!

In one of those interesting collisions of time and space, this week our very own TEDxAmsterdam postcard hit the stands. Right when all Dutch postmen are on strike giving a massive boost to online magazines (no-one else seems affected at all), yes, this very week, we have 150.000 real post cards to share with you. Not digital ones, but printed ones, and they are all over the Netherlands.

What happened? We worked with Boomerang Create. who challenged their network of visual designers to come up with stunning designs. Boomerang put the winning card into every card rack in all the gin joints, in all the towns, in all the Netherlands. There is not a bar or theatre in the Netherlands  that does not have those cards right now. To know more, we asked the people at Boomerang some questions.

What is Boomerang Create?

“Boomerang Create is the largest (growing) creative network in The Netherlands. On www.boomerangcreate.com we provide 11.000 creatives with a platform to show their work, work for companies in need of creativity and inspire each other.”

Why did you decide to contribute to TEDxAmsterdam?

“‘TEDx is one of the most inspiring platforms we know, so of course when we heard of TEDxAmsterdam we simply had to be a part of it.”‘

We love that attitude, we do. How many entries did you get? And who is the winner?

“We received around 150 designs. ‘The winner of this TEDxAms assignment is Boomerang creative ‘shortlife’, aka Peter Kortleve. He’s joined the network since may 2009. His concepts really stimulate you to spread your idea by postcard, and it’s a great design on it’s own.”

As TEDxAmsterdam, we say, hail to Boomerang Create and all their wonderful designers. There were quite a few designs we really liked! There were even a few there that manage do a great idea-lightbulb card. Read the jury report (in Dutch) to find out more. But after judging all the lightbulb cards, there was actually one simple card that really put a smile on our face.

It did not win, but just for fun (and just for our Dutch readers), here it is. Kudos to JWErrorsoft!
