Quench your thirst, Amsterdam & Dasmina!

Months of lobbying at the City Council resulted in an exclusive opportunity for the City of Amsterdam, TEDxAmsterdam and Join the Pipe. Today, we raised enough money to place a watertap on the corner of Leidsestraat and Korte Leidsedwarsstraat to make Amsterdam’s fine tap water available to everyone who is out and about in the area. However, the true beauty of this idea lies with the construction of a water well in Bangladesh. This water well provides  a village of around 200 people with clean drinking water. You can find the location of this water project here on Google Maps.

More than 200 people supported the project by buying a Jointhepipe.org porcelain water carafe for only 15 Euros (normal price 35 Euros), or –even better- signed up as a Jointhepipe.org member and received not only a BPA-free plastic bottle (in the shape of your choice) but also a porcelain water carafe which will together only cost 24 Euros + 6,75 shipping costs. (Although we’ve reached our goal, you can still buy your Jointhepipe.org carafe and membership).

Thanks to the contributions of  TEDxAmsterdam attendees, everybody will be able to quench their thirst while strolling around Leidse Square, while a whole village in Bangladesh enjoys access to one of their primary needs, clean water.

A gift from TEDxAmsterdam.
