Rise and shine, Leidseplein!

Good morning! For those who can’t be here at the Stadsschouwburg (City Theatre) or attending one of the simulcasts (some still have seats available) we will continuously update you from our main page with blog posts on every speaker – and all that is happening in between. In 10 Things You Really Need To Know About This Year’s TEDxAmsterdam you can find an overview of our communication efforts.

For some it’s a tad early (that’s me), for others this morning kicks off a day we have been looking out for eagerly (me too), and then there are some who hardly slept because of all the excitement TEDxAmsterdam is going to bring (again, me too)! Guests are arriving fashionably on time to register and get their personal badge. We’ve asked what makes people think when they registered. A young fellow, Roel, for example, says it’s mostly those stories you wouldn’t catch onto by yourself that make him think. “I’ve known TED from the USA and I think it’s amazing how mindblowing theories get explained so easily.” What does Theo Camps expect? “I am excited about a day of listening.” Although that doesn’t sound very active, Theo loves to be inspired by thinking about the topics speakers will handle and knows for sure he will be surprised by the “great upcoming and, to me, unknown speakers.” His companion Marjan Hammersma especially likes to hear how great ideas are put into action. And on top of that, “I am really curious about the musicians taking stage in between the sets!” All of our guests are invited, selected or have won the TEDxChallenge, so everybody will have special stories to share with one another. Business cards have already been exchanged over the first cups of tea.

Meanwhile, the first speakers are prepping in the speaker’s room. People are going through notes and getting the last touch of makeup before going live. The video editors are busy doing their thing and the stage is all set.  You can feel the excitement all around!

TEDxAmsterdam has begun. Early this morning the last preparations were held. The guests entered the Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam around 8 AM to get a day of inspiration:
