Rogier van der Heide’s Celebration of Light

Inspired by Rogier van der Heide’s talk at TEDxAmsterdam? He talked about light and darkness, brilliance and luminosity – and made us understand the meaning of light in our lives.  This week offers a special opportunity to see some of his work in action.

The Winter Magic Amsterdam Festival starts with a special lighting of the Magere Brug (Skinny Bridge). Designed and implemented by Rogier van der Heide for Philips this promises to be a spectacular light design which is to be unveiled by the city mayor Eberhardt van der Laan. A large fleet of canal boats will gather at the Magere brug  to celebrate this official start of the Christmas season by also turning on their decorative lights which can then be seen and enjoyed throughout the city up until the new year.

The celebration in scheduled for December 10, from 17.30-18.30, tickets for the opening ceremony can be ordered from the Winter Magic website.
