TEDxAmsterdam will take place at the beautiful Stadsschouwburg – the city theater – in Amsterdam. It’s located on the Leidscheplein. The neo-renaissance building has two wooden predecessors. Both have burnt down (in 1772 and 1774). Yet the recent building has been a safe haven for high culture since 1894.

While most venues in this vibrant area offer entertainment in the form of beer and sports, the City Theater is home of Amsterdams most well-acclaimed theater group, the Toneelgroep Amsterdam, and other infamous cultural activities, like the yearly Ball of Books. On the first floor, try the steak sandwich for lunch, or the excellent fish selection for dinner, in the grand café and restaurant Stanislavski.
While inside, you’re taken back to romantic age of the nineteenth century. The red carpets, grandiose chandeliers and the U-shaped auditorium will hopefully bring you in an inspired mindset for a day of grand TED ideas.
