Eric Vloeimans blew TEDxAmsterdam to another level with his improvisational trumpet solo. Regarded as one of Europe’s best trumpeters, he let his heart do the talking. An evocative and harmonic sound filled the Stadsschouwburg.

A fog horn in the distance came slowly closer as Eric glided on to the stage and the audience floated into a deep sea of sound. It was only 10:10 am, and the multi-award winning and North Sea Jazz Festival legend made everyone forget time itself. If only for ten minutes. Most recently, Eric received the Oeuvre Prize from the Province of South Holland in 2011 and the Golden Nutcracker 2011. He has been honored because of his many works, in all possible genres that cover the range from classical to pop, film music, world and jazz. In between playing all over the world, being on tour and picking up Edison Awards, he shares his talent with the students of the Codarts College for the Arts in Rotterdam.
He is a true master of his instrument, making it echo, sing, and even making it sound like a didgeridoo. After his improvisational piece on the TEDxAmsterdam theme ‘Human Nature,’ our host Jim Stolze begged Eric for one more minute. One minute for Es’ra al Shafei, the previous speaker, and her friends in the Middle East. His talent filled the room today, and a TEDtalk forever. Please enjoy Eric Vloeimas.
