Henrik Schärfe and Henrik Schärfe
Henrik Schärfe is Director of Center for Computer-mediated Epistemology at Aalborg University, and Associate Professor of Information Science. Central to his research are questions about how technology shapes and influences our lives and thoughts, and in the end: how technology changes the way we look at ourselves.
During the last couple of years, these questions have taken on a new dimension in Schärfe’s most recent project: The Geminoid-DK. The Geminoid – a tele-operated android – looks exactly like him, and does in fact act as his double on some occasions.
Schärfe describes the Geminoid as his body number 2 and as the ultimate thinking tool. Few are left untouched by meeting the android, who frequently fuels deep questions about our own existence. Faced with a machine in an unmistakingly human form, it is hard not to think about the foundations of Human Nature.
