Ideas Worth Doing – Burundi in Esta magazine
Last week the team of our Idea Worth Doing ‘Boosting Burundi’ came together at the Sanoma headquarters for a special kickoff meeting.
Two journalists from Esta magazine gave an exclusive preview of their journey through Burundi last summer. Editor and behavioural scientist Eva and documentary photographer Anais travelled through the country looking for special stories from the Burundian people. Accompanied by their guide Koky the girls met the most interesting people: from the earth bishop to goat farmer to a jewellery artist. Eva and Anais have got overwhelmed by the joy and beauty of this African country and got even more enthusiastic; they are planning to go back next year and make a book about it. Simply because there is a lot to tell about Burundi and its people, things we cannot find in books, not even in the Lonely Planet. The first article with their beautiful travel report will appear in Esta magazine which will be in stores at November 11th.
With the presence of some Burundian Diaspora members like Jean-Marie NDUWIMANA, living in the Netherlands and working as a consultant, initiator Leanne Bogers outlined the plans for an online platform for the Burundi Diaspora. Together with a lot of volunteers the goal is to launch this marketplace for people outside the country to connect with the people in Burundi, during TEDxAmsterdam at November 25th. So to make this challenge a big success they need your help! This is how you can participate:
