SSBA Salon presents KamerVragen @ TEDxAmsterdam
On the evening of Thursday November 29th TEDxAmsterdam kicks off their 2012 programme in the Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam with a crowdsourcing program. The goal of the night is supporting sustainable and innovative initiatives with the intellectual capital of the masses.
Three TEDxAmsterdamAward finalists will present their initiative and a connected challenge to the present audience. The audience is then allowed to brainstorm these challenges in small groups, presenting a stream of fresh ideas and angles.

The TEDxAmsterdamAward finalists of the night are:
Chantal Engelen
Chantal is the founder of Too Good To Waste. This organization focuses on the left-over food that disappears in the trashbins. To limited the waste of food Chantal and her colleagues operate with the slogan: “Less food waste, More food love.” Their first project was using old tomato’s for a delicious gazpacho. With their work they illustrate how you can make delicious meals with vegetables and produce you usually dispose of.

Martine Postma
Martine starting the NGO Repair Café with which she supports people who want to organize a Repair Café .These are afternoons where people come together to help each other repair broken products. By doing so at the end of the afternoon everybody can go home with their fixed stuff and this minimizes the waste of society (and therefore limits CO2 production). And an additional benefit is the skills of repairing in passed on among the people.

TED is a non-profit organisation dedicated to ‘Ideas Worth Spreading’. It saw the light of day in ‘84 as a conference for people from three sectors: technology, entertainment and design. Since then, its sphere of influence and topics has grown tremendously. TEDxAmsterdam is an independently organised TED event that will be held for the third time on November 29th.

KamerVragen is a crowdsourcing concept that allows entrepreneurs with sustainable concepts to introduce themselves personally to an audience of young professionals and creatives, and present them with a challenge or problem from their practice. The audience brainstorms this proposition in small groups, searching for new angles and insights that might just prove decisive in moving forward. The event is organised in the city theatres of Amsterdam and Rotterdam.
