Mayor Job Cohen
In his first years as mayor, Job Cohen presided over important decisions by the city administration (mayor, aldermen and city council) on projects such as the construction of a new 1,5 billion euro metro line under the city centre, a new top-level business centre (‘Zuid-As’), new residential area’s on artificial islands North-West of Amsterdam (IJburg), new initiatives on large scale regional cooperation in the West of the Netherlands (with Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht), and the renovation of the famous Stedelijk Museum.
Prof. Dr. Ir. Nico Baken
Professor Dr. ir. Nico Baken currently holds a part-time chair in the Telecommunications Department at Delft University of Technology alongside his primary position as Senior Strategist within the department Corporate Strategy of the Royal KPN, the Dutch incumbent Telecom operator. His main interest concerns Broadband Networks and Services, dealing with a broad range of themes such as Sensors (RFID’s), Vehicle, Home and Personal Networks, Fiber To The Home and other access infrastructures such as xDSL, fixed-mobile convergence, operations, financial strategies e.g. the Real Option Analysis, managerial complexity and regulations.
Prof. dr. Robbert Dijkgraaf
Before Professor doctor Robbert Dijkgraaf started teaching mathematical physics at the University of Amsterdam, he taught at Princeton University in New Jersey in the United States. After studying math and physics, Dijkgraaf attended the Gerrit Rietveld Academie before returning to science at University of Utrecht. Since May 19 2008 Dijkgraaf is president of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences.
Merlijn Twaalfhoven
Merlijn Twaalfhoven is a Dutch composer and organizer of music events. As a composer he feels responsible for the complete experience of the spectator. Space and sound are not separable, and the visual always influences the auditive. Because of this vision, Twaalfhoven often lets musicians work together with visual artists, choreographers and directors.
Tony DiSanto
Tony DiSanto is President of Programming and Development at MTV in New York. He developed several reality shows and worked for a long time as executive producer of hit series as Run’s House, The Hills, The City, Paris Hilton: My New BFF and Made.
Bruno Giussani
Bruno Giussani is the European Director of the TED Conferences. He is also a writer, and the producer of the Swiss Forum des 100; Member of the Boards of Internet consultancy Tinext and of the Knight Fellowship at Stanford University.
Joris Luyendijk
Joris Luyendijk is a Dutch non-fiction author, news correspondent and talk show host. He’ll be the moderator of TEDxAmsterdam.
Mark Kamau
Against a backdrop of crime and lack of all infrastructure in the sums of Nairobi, Mark Kamau, born in 1980, grew up not only dreaming of a better future but also grabbing every chance that came his way to create the future of which he dreamed. This happened in 2000 when he managed to register himself at web design school NairoBits (founded by the Dutch foundation Butterfly Works).
Dr. Gerhard Knies
Dr. Gerhard Knies is the coordinator of the ‘TREC’ international network of scientists and engineers that developed the ‘DESERTEC‘ plan. As a physicist Knies worked for DESY, CERN and the famous University of Berkeley (CA).

Hans Aarsman
Hans Aarsman is a photographer and writer, who worked as a photo journalist at Dutch newspaper Trouw and published a series of books. He now writes about photography, a.o. for the Volkskrant. In 1993 he was awarded with the Maria Austria award.
Mabel van Oranje
Dutch Princess Mabel van Oranje is the Chief Executive Officer of The Elders. The Elders are an independent group of eminent global leaders, brought together by Nelson Mandela, who offer their collective influence and experience to support peace building, help address major causes of human suffering and promote the shared interests of humanity. In 2005, the World Economic Forum named her one of its Young Global Leaders.
Christien Meindertsma

Designer Christien Meindertsma started her own studio, Flocks, after graduating the Academy for Industrial Design in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. Meindertsma explores products and raw materials in unusually thoughtful ways.

Louise Vet

Louise Vet is a professor of Evolutionary Ecology at Wageningen University and director of the Netherlands Institute of Ecology (NIOO-KNAW), the largest institute of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences. She is an ecologist with a broad interest in ecology and evolution, working on multitrophic interaction.
Bjarke Ingels

Bjarke Ingels is principal of BIG, based in Copenhagen. The company achieved success very fast and received international awards for their inventive designs. An alumnus of Rem Koolhaas’ OMA practice, Ingels takes a similar approach: experimenting with pure space, but never losing sight of the building as a solution to a real-world problem.
Kevin Kelly

Kevin Kelly is a writer who talks about the influence of technology on our society. With his best seller Out of Control (1994) he predicted the rise of decentrialised systems and network economies, and the convergence between biology and technology — between living organisms and machines.
